I sometimes wish I had that much enthusiasm for chinese)))

Eastern languages is so hard to learn... I'm studying Japanese (it's similar to Chinese) over three years, and know only thirty percents of that. And I'm misunderstood some glyphs on kana sometimes...

What the hell?
How could be a language of 1000 diffrent glyphs be easy to learn comparing to ~30 letters alphabet languages??
I agree it could be easy in grammar and such, but what the point if you can't read the words )
I was studing Japanese for couple of months and then kept reading it for year.
That was some time ago.
